Famous for its legend (see below), the valley of the Well of Hell is an area of ecological interest which is a major biological interest because of the presence of rare species:
- Dominant woody vegetation,
- Very diverse flora, four common plant can be observed: Atlantic side of streams, sub-Mediterranean and submontane.
- Panoramic view of the rift St Maixent and more broadly on the landscape.
The site has several wells of Hell walking routes marked.
You will enter the Well of Hell by a narrow road and steep climbing (D 121) connecting to St Maixent Fomperron. Before coming to Exireuil on your right (coming from St Maixent), the path of the Well of Hell takes you to the entry point for walks.
Ample parking and a view over the valley await you.
Recently refurbished on site you will find a picnic area and a shelter that can accommodate thirty people.
